Workout Wednesday: Tabata Training featuring GYMBOSS

Welcome to Workout Wednesday where I will be sharing a workout each week that will get your heart pumping!!!!!!

Finding the time to workout is a problem that many of us face on a daily basis.  I know between work and family sometimes it feels like there are no hours left in the day to fit in a workout so I decided to create a solution to this problem by utilizing more Tabata training.

Tabata training falls under the category of high intensity interval training and it consists of 20 seconds of intense training followed by 10 seconds of rest repeated 8 times for a total of 4 minutes.  Tabata was founded by Professor Izumi Tabata and his studies have shown that this type of exercise improves both aerobic and anaerobic systems.  So if you want to burn fat, improve endurance and increase strength in a short period of time then Tabata is the workout to do!!! I have put together a 5 Round Tabata workout that utilizes 2 alternating exercises for each round with 1 minute rest in between each Tabata for a full body workout that can be completed in less than 30 minutes.

My best friend (and Season 8 sponsor) during Tabata training is my GYMBOSS Interval Timer!!!

From the GYMBOSS website:  "The GYMBOSS is a small, easy to use, repeating interval timer. This multi-use timer has many versatile functions that make it beneficial to virtually any type of exercise program."

I have tried to use many apps on my phone and iPad for Tabata training but nothing I have found compares to GYMBOSS!!! This portable clip-on timer lets me focus on my workouts instead of the time, when my GYMBOSS beeps I know it is time to switch gears.  In addition to Tabata training you can use GYMBOSS for Tabata training, running, weight training or just about any exercise that requires a timer.  If you don’t already have a GYMBOSS it is definitely worth the investment.

If you don't have a GYMBOSS you can just use any timer that you have available!!!!

Have a great workout!!!!!

  2. Once you learn how to program the Gymboss, they are great. I did a few Bodyrock.tv workouts with them and if it wasn't for the Gymboss, I could have never done the workouts properly.
